Six Busy Weeks, Real Progress, Real Pride

The past six weeks have flown by in a blur of lessons, mock exams, and hard-earned breakthroughs — and as exhausting as it’s been, it’s also been incredibly rewarding.

My Year 11 students have truly stepped up. With the reality of their upcoming exams now firmly in sight, they’ve been studying with focus and intent, showing a level of maturity and determination that deserves recognition. The mock period was tough — long papers, pressure, and self-doubt inevitably crept in — but they persevered. They turned up, they tried, and most importantly, they kept going when it felt difficult.

What’s been especially encouraging is seeing how much that effort is beginning to pay off. In our 1:1 tuition sessions, the progress is tangible. Confidence is growing, answers are becoming more structured and thoughtful, and students are starting to trust their own abilities. Those moments when understanding finally clicks — when shoulders relax and ideas start to flow — make all the hard work worthwhile.

To my Year 11s: yes, use this week to do some study, but those of you who have recently come through mocks in particular, please take time to rest and recoup too. Recovery matters. There are just five weeks until the Easter holidays, and after that… well, things move onto the fast track towards your exams. Looking after yourselves now will help you go the distance later.

And to my lovely Year 9 and Year 10 students — use this week to properly rest. Switch off, recharge, and enjoy the break. There will be plenty of time ahead to refocus, but for now, rest is exactly what you need.

I’m genuinely proud of how far all of my students have come in such a short space of time. There’s still work to do, of course, but the foundations are firmly in place. With continued effort, resilience, and belief, I’m confident they will continue to improve and move forward with confidence.

Busy weeks like these remind me why I love what I do. Progress doesn’t always happen loudly — sometimes it’s quiet, steady, and hard-won — but it’s happening, and it’s something worth celebrating.
