About Me

Hi, I'm Ciara 👋

AQA Examiner

Qualified English teacher, AQA GCSE English Language examiner and passionate online tutor.

I'm an experienced secondary English teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), gained in 2001, and I've been teaching online since 2007.

My speciality is GCSE English Language, particularly helping students develop the confidence, skills and exam techniques they need to succeed. I also support younger students in Years 7–9 and those resitting their GCSE English Language qualification.

A little bit about me...

English teacher, wife and mother — although I'm not entirely sure which order those should appear in! 😂

I've loved teaching for as long as I can remember. When I was six or seven, I'd line up my dolls and pretend to teach them. Even my friends weren't safe from my imaginary classroom!

I loved writing stories on the blackboard, correcting grammar and playing schools. Little did I know I'd eventually turn that childhood enthusiasm into a career.

Of course, things have changed a little since the days of chalk and blackboards! I've spent nearly two decades teaching online, using interactive tools to make lessons engaging, supportive and enjoyable.

Now that my own boys are grown up, I've been able to devote even more time to Achieve English and my particular passion — English Language.

How I can help your child

As an AQA GCSE English Language examiner, I understand what examiners are looking for and where students often lose valuable marks.

My lessons are friendly, personalised and focused on helping students make genuine progress. Whether your child struggles with analysing language, comparing texts, creative writing or exam technique, we'll work together to develop their skills and confidence.

And yes, I firmly believe that learning should involve a smile!
